We are hiring a Technical Director
We are looking to hire a technical director for our exciting and entrepreneurial digital product studio. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has managed a delivery team in an agency and is looking to step up to a company management role. Your will manage our team of amazing technical talent, with overall accountability for the technical delivery of our digital products and their ongoing support.
You will help us continuously improve our delivery by developing our technical roadmap and setting clear technical and architectural standards and processes. You will be a self-starter, get a kick out of getting to grips with complex issues, and love a good process. Most of all, you will find great satisfaction in helping all your team members develop professionally and sharing our learnings with the wider digital community.
You will be a key member of our management team, alongside our Creative and Client Services Directors, reporting into our Managing Director.
Leading our technical team, creating a positive working environment based on our culture of being collaborative, open, flexible and social.
Driving our technical thinking by identifying and rolling out common technical, architecture and delivery standards, processes & tools for client and internal systems. Identifying areas of strategic technical debt, creating the business case for resolution and acting as the management team sponsor for these internal projects. Developing our on-going support offering.
Setting up projects for success by partnering with Client Services during the sales process to help clients make good technical choices. Getting hands on with high value projects, in particular oversight of project estimation and key technology decisions taken by our teams. Making sure our teams deliver projects and support services on time, to the right quality and within budget. Regularly adjusting processes and tools to continuously improve our delivery.
Helping the wider digital community by developing new knowledge and sharing it through blogging, conferences and meetups.
You are already working as a technical leader in a fast moving and results-orientated organisation, with experience of line management of a mid-sized team. You have over 10 years experience working in the digital sector and significant experience in an agency/consulting environment. Your days of actual hands-on coding commercial projects (ideally on multiple open-source frameworks) are mostly behind you - now you pull on your broad understanding to ensure that the projects you are responsible for are well designed from the start.
You have successfully delivered multiple projects and support contracts, ideally using both agile and waterfall methodologies. You are comfortable creating and implementing technology and architecture standards, including 3rd party vendor selection and SLA development.
You can make decisions in difficult or ambiguous situations when time is critical; and can manage competing demands on your time, prioritising work as necessary. You are willing to get your hands dirty & dive in and deal with the detail.
You are committed to learning, developing and sharing knowledge, ideally with experience of speaking at conferences and meetups.
